Our Vison

We are a high achieving selective grammar school with academy status, educating girls between the ages of 11 and 16 and girls and boys in the Sixth Form.

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, we blend the best of a traditional curriculum with the principles and ethos of the IB Organisation. This offers our students opportunities to learn in breadth and depth in order to develop as well-balanced individuals. They become active learners and are encouraged to be passionate about making a difference in the world.

The School prepares students for GCSEs and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. In addition to an extensive curricular timetable, our students take part in an extensive range of extracurricular activities.

Our facilities

The school opened in 1905 and is situated in 14 acres in Deakin Leas, Tonbridge. We are well resourced with modern facilities. The Hands Building was opened in 2009 and offers state-of-the-art classrooms, a drama and dance studio and a sports hall. A number of our Science laboratories were refurbished after having been awarded a grant from the Wolfson Foundation in 2012. The IBarn, a dedicated sixth form study centre, was opened in September 2015.

Internationalism

The School provides opportunities for students to take part in initiatives which enable intercultural understanding and respect. These include study tours abroad to locations as varied as Malawi and Iceland, as well as participating in mathematics challenges in the UK and Europe.

Safeguarding

Our aim is to educate able students and prepare them for life in an environment where all students and staff are treated with respect, and the safety and well-being of each individual in the School’s care is important. The Governors and staff of Tonbridge Grammar School take seriously our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all the children and young people entrusted to our care.
