Zoé makes her international football debut

After very full days at England Camp in St George’s Park last February and a friendly versus ISFA U16s where ESFA U15s won 4-1, Zoé (Year 9) debuted international duty in early March, in Oswestry on a friendly versus Wales U16s. The ESFA international squad won 6-0.

The squad were then flown to Ireland for the Bob Docherty Cup.

  • England first drew 1-1 with Northern Ireland, then won 3-1 on penalties.
  • England won 2-1 versus Republic of Ireland.
  • England drew 1-1 versus Scotland then won on penalties.

They won the annual John Read (ex CEO of ESFA) trophy, which they were the holders of, they also won the Bob Docherty cup- a rare event as in 22 years, this was only the third time England had lifted the trophy (last win was in 2016).

Zoé thoroughly enjoyed the experience. She enjoyed training with team mates playing at U16s club level.  Friendships for life have been made with players from all corners of the country.

Each player will be presented their international cap this summer.

Congratulations to Zoé and the team.
