Year 9 Adventure Day

23 June saw Year 9 'finding their brave' on an Adventure Day at Blackland Farm in Sussex.

Form groups were split into teams of up to 15 to complete an array of activities including:

Crate Stacking: A roped activity that builds teamwork and trust by working together to build a tower of crates for participants to stand on top of. One team from Fayerman managed a record of 17 crates before they toppled!

Abseiling: Climb to the top of the tower and then put your trust in the rope – and the instructor – as you take the plunge. Even some of the teachers joined in!

Team building: Developing communication, leadership and team-working skills while solving practical and mental problems. A great activity to get groups working together to achieve a common goal. Exercises including making the longest line as a team, plank walking in a group alongside some seriously challenging mental puzzles.

Quotes from students:

It was a fun way to meet new people from other houses and spending a day outside, doing very fun activities.
I faced my fears and it was super fun! I had such a great time and got to know my peers better.
It was so much fun! Everyone had a great time and we all challenged ourselves and faced our fears. We were very happy the teachers joined in!

After covid, this felt like a necessary break. We especially enjoyed crate stacking and the team building exercises. All the people there were really nice and welcoming.

It was so much fun and helped me embrace my adventurous self. I loved it so much!
