Ski trip to Flachau: Skiing, Tyrolean dancing, braving the Air Roller Coaster and the Thermae Amadé...

Year 8 students enjoyed a fantastic, memorable and mostly sunny week skiing in the Austrian Alps during which four students celebrated their birthdays.  Students skied every day with their skills developing day on day and were a pleasure to be with and a credit to their families and the school.

The après ski was varied and included a visit to Therme Amadé (thermal baths in Flachau, including outdoor pools, bubble beds, hot tubs, wave pool and 3 flumes), the Lucky Flitzer Air (mountainside) Roller Coaster, a Tyrolean dancing evening where the students learnt the Schuhplattler, a traditional style of folk dance and how to play the alpenhorn.

The hotel offers some great sporting facilities which were taken full advantage of.

The ski trip was a fantastic experience! It allowed me to make new connections with not just students, but also with the teachers. The skiing, hotel and views were amazing. I've made memories that I will never forget.

Martha, Year 8

We just wanted to say thank you so much for such a brilliant week skiing in Austria last week.  [Student] has clearly been a swift convert to skiing and her confidence in being away from home - clearly having a brilliant time - has rocketed. She absolutely loved it and we absolutely love the fact that she wants to keep skiing. She made new friends, learnt to look after herself, managed the coach travel and even loved the ferry.
