Year 13 explore the ecological elements of the IB Biology syllabus during a field visit to Flatford Mill

A large group of our Year 13 students visited Flatford Mill on a Biology Field Course at the end of last term, allowing them to learn the ecological elements of the IB syllabus in situ as well as having the opportunity to carry out an individual investigation to gather data for their Internal Assessment.

We were lucky to have mostly dry weather with the rain only making an appearance whilst we slept. Our students worked well together and really got in the spirit of outdoor learning.

One of the students commented:

It was wonderful to apply much of the biology we have learnt to ecology. As someone who loves the natural world, I found that being able to study organisms in several biodiverse ecosystems was what I particularly enjoyed.
