TGS Sixth Form placed 3rd in the UK in the ‘Top State Secondary School for IB’ category and top in Kent for ‘Percentage of students achieving A* or equivalent at IB Diploma/A Level’

We were delighted our Sixth Form was placed 3rd nationally in the ‘Top State Secondary School for IB’ category, closely behind a school from Devon and one from London.

When compared to non IB schools, TGS’ sixth formers ranked top in Kent for the percentage of students achieving A* (or equivalent) grades at A Level/IB Diploma level.

As a school we’re acutely aware that academic outcomes are only part of the TGS story, so we asked some current Year 12 students what they rated Tonbridge Grammar School highly for:

Good connections between subjects and students – there are many opportunities to use our subject knowledge in a ‘joined up’ way such as in the Science Group Project.  Working together in this way means we get to know our cohort quickly.

I stayed on at TGS for Sixth Form because of how well the teachers support you. Teachers always make time for you if you need clarification or extra support.

There are so many extra-curricular opportunities on offer and sixth formers are able to run clubs for younger students.

The international aspect of studying at TGS appeals to me as I want to study abroad in the future.

I feel listened to and, upon joining the Sixth Form, TGS very quickly put into place the access arrangements I need.

I enjoy the variety of CAS opportunities on offer– for example teaching sign language and helping primary school students prepare for the 11 + exam.

The Wellbeing Team have always been there for me, to support me with my mental health.

Congratulations to our students on their excellent examination results and thanks to our teaching team for inspiring and supporting our students to success.   We are proud of the students’ examination results but even prouder of the fact that an education at Tonbridge Grammar School allows for the development of the whole student. We encourage students to explore their wider interests and ensure that wellbeing is at the centre of their experience. We are delighted that our students have performed so well in the face of very challenging circumstances and know that they will go on to fantastic university courses and careers understanding how to create much needed work/life balance.
