Transition Curriculum (Yrs 10-11)

Acquiring the learning skills and attributes to become an independent learner underpins the curriculum experience for in the Upper School. Lessons prepare for outstanding success at GCSE and for the demands of the IB Diploma Programme in the Sixth Form.

Learning is designed to develop higher order thinking skills and increases significantly in intellectual challenge as students progress through the school.

Community Service

We believe that understanding your responsibilities as a global citizen starts at home. We encourage you to experience the benefits that come from giving service to those around you.

The Community and Service afternoon creates time every Wednesday for you to undertake voluntary service in the wider community, or to develop mentoring skills by helping a younger student within school or at one of our partner primary schools. This is also an opportunity for you to take part in Duke of Edinburgh expedition planning.

The focus for the Community and Service afternoon is to provide an early introduction to responsibility and leadership. This helps to prepare you for the Creativity Action and Service requirement of the IB diploma when in the sixth form.
