UKMT Maths Challenge success

Congratulations to the 140 students who recently took part in the UK Maths Trust Intermediate Maths Challenge. 32 participants achieved Gold awards, 62 Silver and 27 Bronze.

18 students (some of whom are pictured) achieved a score that has secured them a place in the follow-on rounds which will take place on 20 March and Hester has secured a place in the Hamilton Olympiad.

The first round is a 60 minute, 25 multiple choice question challenge aimed at students in years 9 to 11. The problems are designed to make students think and are stimulating problems for both beginners and experienced problem-solvers.

Students commented:

It was challenging and the way it was structured allowed us to apply the Maths we had learnt in lessons.

The questions are different to the kinds of questions we encounter in our lessons and taking part helped to challenge us.
