Helping to spread seasonal joy

Last year students sent letters and cards to local care homes to try to help reduce the feelings of isolation residents may have been feeling as a result of the pandemic. Although students didn’t ask for feedback, the recipients of the letters said how lovely it was and that it really cheered them up.  Following this success,  our school community put pen to paper again.

Hundreds of cards and letters have been written by students from Year 7 to Year 13, reaching out to people who may not have others around them. We will be sending out 20 care packages in the coming days.

Thank you to all who have taken time to show they care; it is very much appreciated.

Thank you for thinking of us again this year. Please pass on our thanks to your students and remind them they are definitely making a very positive difference to many of our residents!

Being part of a strong community is essential to Rockdale.  Community engagement for our residents makes living at Rockdale even more special.  Tonbridge Grammar School students, children from 11 - 18, have kindly written letters or cards to our residents to give them extra cheer and support to show they care, over this festive period.  It means a huge amount to our residents and to everyone working at Rockdale, to know our elderly residents are being thought about by the younger generation.
