GCSE and IB Music Students enjoy performance of Holst's 'The Planets'

On a rainy Wednesday, 78 year 10, 11 and 12 GCSE and IB Music students travelled to the Barbican Centre in London to watch the London Symphony Orchestra perform Holst's The Planets.

We were treated to a delightful concert complete with projections and a presenter to explain each compositional aspect of Holst’s music and introduce the more unusual orchestral instruments such as the contra bassoon and alto flute.

There were over 100 musicians in this performance and many of our students commented how beneficial it was to experience a live professional orchestra and how it really brought the music alive for them.

Thanks go to the staff assisting on the day to make this trip possible.
