Success in national maths challenge

Congratulations to all Year 12 and 13 mathematicians who recently took part in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge.  76 students were awarded a Gold award, 62 Silver and 48 Bronze.

Kathyrn, Joseph, Ishana and Amelie’s scores earnt them a place in the second round.  They commented “We really enjoyed engaging in a challenge that allowed us to put our IB Maths skills to the test”.

The 90-minute challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.

The problems on the Senior Mathematical Challenge are designed to make students think. Most are accessible, yet still challenge those with more experience.

Well done to all of those who took part in the challenge and a huge congratulations to the 4 students who progressed on to the Kangaroo round. The students demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills that they have developed through the higher Analysis and Approaches course.
