Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1926-2022

Over the last ten days, the school community has reflected on the life and reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and joined the Royal Family in mourning her loss.

Opportunities to reflect have included taking part in a two-minute silence, signing a book of condolences, exploring how the Queen embodied Courage and Honour (the words which make up the Tonbridge Grammar School motto) and attended refection assemblies led by Head Students.

His Majesty King Charles III and The Royal Family were very much in our thoughts on Monday 19 September and will continue to be so going forward.

It’s been an honour to be able to lead the assemblies commemorating Queen Elizabeth II, celebrating her life in such a way that students could reflect upon her reign and lifetime in a positive light. Especially with the significance of TGS being predominantly a girl's school, and Elizabeth most likely the last female monarch in our lifetimes, we reflect upon her reign with a great sadness, and she will be missed.

Leading assemblies as the student leadership team was an honour, however a daunting one at that. We focused on the admirable qualities of the Queen, particularly how she progressed attitudes towards women in power.
