CAS Story: Volunteering at a local Brownie pack

bracelets

Freya in Year 12 has been volunteering at her local Brownie pack for nearly a year.  She writes:

In recent session we were talking about our favourite memories of Brownies. As a group, we turned them into bracelets - each bead symbolising a different memory, which we brainstormed collectively.

On mine (pictured above), the memories are these: - green butterfly: playing the game 'Fruit Salad', purple shiny bead: the Easter Egg Hunt, orange bead: making pancakes, blue bead: playing 'King Neptune', pink shiny bead: arts and crafts, yellow flower: playing 'Queen's Headache', green sparkly bead: going on a trip to Paxwood Campsite.

Next week there will be an Enrolment (four Brownies will be officially inaugurated into the pack), so this week was a rehearsal for it. We ran through all the steps, practised the Brownie Promise and Brownie Law with the new Brownies, and then we did some craft activities based around the Brownie Promise. There was an additional adult helper this week, but she came to me to ask for advice and direction on what to do to help out best, so I feel I am becoming a more trusted figure to not just the girls but the leaders, too.
