CAS Story: International Maths Challenge.

A dedicated team of thirty Year 12 students brought precision and professionalism to an international maths challenge hosted for schools across the Netherlands. Held under scorching summer skies, the event was not only a display of academic excellence, but also cultural exchange and spirited collaboration.

Fifi impressed the audience by delivering a heartfelt thank you and congratulations speech in fluent Dutch, capturing the spirit of unity and international goodwill. The challenge ran smoothly from start to finish, with students managing logistics, facilitation, and scoring duties with polished flair.

After the event, the group enjoyed soaking up the vibrant local culture of Utrecht—wandering canals, sampling Dutch food, and gaining a deeper appreciation for life beyond the classroom.

Estella explains more:

A group of Year 12 students, including myself, ran a maths challenge for students in the Netherlands.  Before the visit we completed two other events; the first was observing and helping with the running of a maths challenge in the UK, the second involved leading a maths challenge for primary students in the UK. This experience helped us to run the challenge in the Netherlands as best as possible, my aim over this whole project was to contribute and be useful to the team and help specifically in the group round of the project.
