Carys, alumna and observational astronomer, visits Physics students

TGS Physicists were fortunate to receive a visit from alumna Carys, an observational astronomer studying for a PhD at the University of Kent, who talked about her work and studies.

Students who came to the Q&A session learnt about many interesting concepts, such as the conflicting beliefs about the Hubble constant, as well as its uses in supporting the Big Bang Theory and the expansion of the universe.

She also spoke about the requirements for studying astrophysics and pursuing it as a career, as well as the importance of Computer Science in modelling the changing nature of stars.

Our thanks to Carys for inspiring TGS students.
