Year 12 students compete in French debating competition

Year 12 students of French took part in a debating competition, Les Joutes Oratoires, prior to the half term break.

Two teams from TGS took part in the qualifying rounds at regional level, at Saint Paul’s Girl School, London.

Although, we did not qualify for the finals, two motions out of six were won by our students. They were incredibly courageous and articulate bringing their arguments forward. It was an opportunity to gain confidence in speaking, to develop their range of vocabulary whilst addressing current and captivating topics.

Those debating worked very hard as part of a wider team for several weeks, on their own initiative, demonstrating exceptional organisational and self-management skills.

It is commendable that they worked so well together, demonstrating all ten attributes of the IB Learner profile.
