TGS hosts UKMT Regional Maths Challenge

UKMT

On Monday, 31 March, Tonbridge Grammar School (TGS) competed in the UK Team Regional Maths Challenge, an exciting and inquisitive competition that challenges young minds that is led by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT). The event, hosted by TGS, welcomed 20 schools from across the South East.

After a series of challenging mathematical rounds, St Olave’s emerged as the overall winners, while TGS secured an impressive fifth-place finish. The competition showcased the students’ problem-solving skills, teamwork, and mathematical abilities.

For our team leaders, this event was also a valuable learning experience. As we prepare to host our own challenge after half-term and later in the Netherlands, it was incredibly useful to observe how the competition was structured and run. Seeing the event in action gave us a strong understanding of what makes a successful maths challenge, and we are excited to put our own ideas into practice in the upcoming competitions.

A huge well done to all participants for their effort and enthusiasm, and congratulations to St Olave’s on their victory!
