Debating Society

TGS Debating Society provides an opportunity for those in Year 10-13 to engage in lively, contemporary debates. 

The Debating Society meet weekly and, through discussion of these issues, learn a range of debating formats, including British Parliamentary and World Schools. We regularly enter competitions, including the Oxford and Cambridge University competitions and Debating Matters GB/In, in which students debate live against students in India.

Mr Noel who coached the team that won the 2022 English Speaking Union's Mace Debating Competition, recently had an article about how to teach debating in schools published on the ESU's website.  Read the article here
