Year 9 Camp

Year 9 enjoyed spending time with their friends outside of the classroom and taking part in a wide range of activities at Year 9 Camp.  Students explain more:

Camp this year was fantastic, full of new experiences, spending time with friends, staying in tents and an opportunity to meet new people across the year group.  We tried exciting activities including axe throwing, orienteering, rock scrambling and paddle boarding.   We were placed in activity groups with students from across Year 9, enabling us to branch out and befriend new people.  The campsite had undergone an upgrade from when we went in Year 7 with improved facilities, making the experience more enjoyable. We had a bonfire and a talent show on the last night which created a great atmosphere.  Overall Year 9 Camp was memorable and a thoroughly brilliant experience.

Year 9 Camp was honestly one of the best parts of the year. It was so much fun and there were loads of activities for us to do, like 'All Aboard', tree abseiling, rock climbing, and lots more. Every day was exciting because we were always trying something new and spending time with our friends.

One of the biggest things for me was conquering my fear of heights. At first, I was really nervous and didn't think I would be able to do some of the activities, especially 'All Aboard' (where 4 people, attached to a harness, stood up on this tall, shaky pole with a wooden square on top and had to fall backwards) and climbing. But with everyone cheering me on, I decided to give it a go. In the end, I actually did it, and I was really proud of myself because I never thought I would be brave enough.

The instructors were also amazing. They always made sure we were safe and explained everything properly, which helped me feel less worried. They were really funny too and were always making jokes and making us laugh, even when we were nervous. They made the whole experience so much more enjoyable.

One of my favourite parts of the camp was the talent show on the last night. Everyone had the chance to get involved, whether it was showing off a real talent or just doing something silly to make everyone laugh. Even some of the teachers performed, which was very funny and not something we get to see every day! Afterwards, we all sat around the campfire, laughing, cheering people on, and enjoying our last night together. It was a great way to end the camp and made it even more memorable.

Overall, Year 9 camp was an unforgettable experience. I made loads of great memories with my friends, tried things I never thought I could do, and gained a lot more confidence. I would definitely do it all over again if I had the chance.
