Maths Club 2025-26; a celebration

This year Maths Club for younger students, run by Year 12 subject leaders, has been one of growth, curiosity and teamwork. What began as a small group of students meeting to engage in fun, maths-based activities quickly became a space for them to strengthen their learning while building communication skills with their peers.

Throughout the year, students developed their problem-solving abilities, learned new strategies for approaching complex questions, and discovered how mathematics connects to real world ideas. Every activity was designed to reflect events happening throughout the school year. For example, during Careers Day, we delivered a presentation on how Mathematics can be used across a wide range of career pathways not just the traditional finance or engineering routes.

As the leader of Maths Club, I am incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made and of the wonderful students we’ve had the privilege to work with. Massive congratulations to the Year 7 students for being exceptional in every activity. As we reached the end of the club, students were celebrated for their hard work and resilience – and we received this heartfelt message from them:

“You have made maths fun, you made us way more confident in maths and helped us start off secondary school strong. It’s so hard to put our gratitude into text. You and your team’s dedication to presenting and creating PowerPoints for each Tuesday is admirable, thank you for being such a good role model. Each week was better than the last. You got us sweets and encouraged us to push forward. We will never forget you and the incredible Tuesdays spent learning maths with you.  We wish you luck on your journey forward. Never stop being awesome!”.

As we wrap up the year, we are thankful for everyone who contributed – students, teachers, and supporters. We leave with new skills, new memories, and a stronger appreciation for the beauty of mathematics. We are excited to see how the club continues to grow in the years ahead.
