TGS Youth Theatre Company performs Britney’s Lock as part of the prestigious National Theatre Connections Festival

31 students travelled to Trinity Theatre to take part in the prestigious National Theatre Connections Festival, delivering an outstanding performance of Britney’s Lock by Alexandra Wood.

The production was brought vividly to life by a large, committed cast alongside an exceptional student-led technical team. From stage management to lighting and sound, students took real ownership of every aspect of the production, demonstrating impressive professionalism, confidence and technical skill.

The day was packed with opportunity and excitement. Students immersed themselves in technical and dress rehearsals during the morning, took part in inspiring workshops in the afternoon and then rose to the challenge of performing in the final slot of the festival with energy, focus, and flair.

The experience was both exhilarating and deeply rewarding. Preparing and staging a production of this scale demanded huge levels of commitment, collaboration, and resilience. Throughout the process, students embraced challenges, supported one another, and pushed themselves creatively, culminating in a performance they could be incredibly proud of.

A particular highlight was the opportunity to welcome the playwright, Alexandra Wood. Her presence and thoughtful, generous feedback were truly inspiring for the students and served as a meaningful recognition of their hard work and dedication. It was also wonderful to be supported by colleagues, whose encouragement contributed to the success of the experience!

An unforgettable, high-energy experience from start to finish—and a true celebration of student talent and dedication.
