TGS hosts UKMT Team Maths Challenge

We were delighted to welcome 16 schools from across the region to Tonbridge Grammar School for the UKMT Teams Maths Challenge.

The challenge promotes mathematical dexterity, teamwork and communication skills and provided students with the opportunity to compete against students from other schools in their region. There was great focus and communication throughout the closely contested event.  Congratulations to the winners, St Olave's Grammar School.

The event also provided Year 12 mathematicians, who will be running a similarly structured maths challenge in the Netherlands later in the year, the opportunity to observe the kind of rounds they will be overseeing in the Netherlands and to learn how to explain the rules to participants.  The event they will run will bring 40 schools from across the Netherlands together in Utrecht for the challenge.

Sixth Form students will have a further opportunity to practise in April as they will take a leading role in curating questions for, and running, a primary maths challenge.
