Musicians visit The Royal Albert Hall, Royal College of Music and enjoy an evening performance

Year 10, 11 and 12 Music students enjoyed a day of musical discovery in London.  Ayla and Priya explain more:

We started with a backstage tour of the Albert Hall, where we learnt about its fascinating history and were lucky enough see to some of the rehearsals for the concert we would see in the evening! Then we got special access to the Royal Box.

Afterwards, we went across the street to The Royal College of Music, where we were guided around some of the world's most unique heritage instruments- including the oldest ancestor of the piano!

After a picnic in Hyde Park, it was time to watch the film: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, accompanied by a live orchestra. We were sat up in the rausing circle, where we had excellent views of the orchestra. It was so exciting to see a variety of instruments, such as the Chinese bamboo flute, and a pipa.

It was an incredible day, and having a live orchestra with the film created such an exciting atmosphere.

Thank you to Mrs Bartle for organising a once in a lifetime experience!
