TGS Spring Concert

School orchestra playing a concert

The TGS Spring Concert was a fabulous opportunity for our musical students to showcase what they’ve been working on over the past term.

Ensembles included our junior orchestra and choir, Year 8 and 9 Cantores, jazz band, chamber choir, orchestra and ensemble. It also featured the opportunity for IB and GCSE musicians to take a leading role in their own ensembles.

Furthermore, the theme of music from stage and screen led to a fantastic finale in collaboration with a multitude of guest musicians for rousing performances of Saint-Saens’ Organ Symphony and a performance of Defying Gravity from Wicked with over 120 musicians playing and singing-a fitting celebratory moment to mark our 120th year as a school community.

This spectacular concert provided the school with an opportunity to support the UK's largest children's charity Barnardo's in continuing their work. The success of this concert and the music scene at TGS has led to the announcement of a further opportunity for 2026 summer in which musicians will travel to France and Spain in order to showcase their musical abilities in a variety of performances. It is with thanks to Mr Hayward and Mrs Bartle and generous gifts to School Fund that these occasions are able to take place, and that music at TGS can flourish.
