Library

Our re-developed library, at the heart of the school, is now home to 8,000 titles.

Books are carefully selected by the librarian, teaching staff and students to support the academic progress and interests of students, as well as providing a wide diet of titles to support reading for pleasure.

We’re fortunate to have a professional librarian, who teaches the research skills that underpin the IB Diploma and the MYP.

What the students say...

Thank you very much for being an amazing Librarian. Your book recommendations are amazing and you have helped my passion for reading.

Student

Thank you for your friendliness and willingness to talk about books and answer questions. I like the library.

Student

I love the library because it has a wide range of books in all genres, which means that there is something for everyone to read. It is also a great place to read and work because of the calm atmosphere. We also have a great librarian who is always willing to help recommend great books!

TGS Book Club

You are warmly invited to join us on the first Monday of each term at the TGS parent/staff/alumni book club. This social group meets every term and reads a wide variety of books. Over the last year, we have read biographies, short stories, YA books, books in translation, graphic novels and prose fiction. The emphasis is on meeting people and sharing a common interest rather than literary analysis, so you are just as welcome if you are an avid read as you are if you haven't read for years.

If you are interested in finding out what we are reading next, or just joining the mailing list, please complete this form.

Support our Library

Our library is wholly funded through the generosity of parents, alumni and friends of the school. Being able to stock books for all students that feed their curiosity and imaginations is a privilege that we do not underestimate. We have had significant support for refurbishment and the rejuvenation of our collection and it is important to continue updating and adding to our offering. If you would like to support the Library through School Fund please use this link.

If you are spring cleaning and would like to support the library, please look around and see whether you have any of the titles on our wish list that you no longer need. We are happy to receive second-hand books in very good condition.  You can also support us by sending us any of these tiles, either directly from Amazon, or from elsewhere including your local charity shops.

Thank you, we are grateful for all your support.

Mrs Maloney, School Librarian
