Rowing success

Congratulations to this Year 10 student, a junior single sculler, who has had considerable success over the last three years winning numerous regattas and medals at national events.

Most recently, she achieved double gold at the Maidstone Head, winning in both the single scull and double scull events. Following this success, she attended the regional trials held at London Docklands, where she delivered an outstanding performance in her single scull (1x), winning convincingly and finishing over 20 seconds ahead of second place on a 1000m course.

A month later, she competed at the Junior Inter Regional Regatta in Nottingham, where she raced against the top regional winners from across the country, making it one of the most competitive junior rowing events of the year.

Despite facing significant challenges outside of her control, including having to pause her training for an important period leading up to the event, she showed exceptional resilience, courage, determination, and confidence. She chose to compete, remained focused, and after a long and demanding day of racing, finished an impressive 6th overall out of 30 regional winners.
