Maths Soc explore sphere eversion

Recently, Maths Soc enjoyed a session presented by a Year 12 student about sphere eversion (the methods by which we can turn a sphere inside out, given certain conditions).

Designed for students in the Sixth Form and upper school, Maths Soc is a space where students can go on Tuesday lunchtimes to delve into interesting maths problems and concepts, be that theoretical or applied. It is a great space for those interested in a career in maths, or considering one, as we explore more complex concepts beyond the scope of our studies giving a taste of what maths is like further down the road.

It is a good super-curricular experience for university applications, whether that is in maths or any related field.

Members have the opportunity to look into their own topics of interest and deliver presentations or organise activities. We also welcome guest speakers.  This is not only a good opportunity to develop public speaking skills but helps to create a communal environment. Maths Society is very different from a classroom environment and encourages discussion within the whole society on topics of interest.
