Year 12 Philosophy Students visit University of Southampton

In December, Year 12 Philosophy Students had the opportunity to attend a series of three lectures at the University of Southampton, followed by a session about studying Philosophy at university.

The lectures explored how Philosophy relates to different aspects of life, and explored topics such as personal identity, folk psychology, and free will. Following these lectures, students were invited to raise points or questions, making the experience even more akin to a true university experience.

The final session on studying Philosophy at university was highly informative regarding how a Philosophy degree relates to possible careers as well as the value of pursuing the subject at a higher level- the session also provided information about the general structure of undergraduate degrees, as well as tips for university applications.

The staff and campus were all incredibly welcoming and it was lovely to receive complimentary beverages during the breaks between lectures.
