Year 6 Induction
I hope that you are looking forward to joining the TGS community in September. I appreciate that the move to secondary school can seem rather daunting. I am sure you already have lots of questions about your new school that it would be helpful to have answered in advance of the new school year.
Supporting your transition from your current school to Tonbridge Grammar School is important to all the staff here. To help with this transition we have prepared a pack of induction information which we hope parents/ carers and students will read together. We have also set aside two opportunities for you to come to school before the end of this academic year.
You now should have received an email from Mrs Court, Student Advisor, inviting our new students to an informal welcome afternoon at the School in June. This afternoon will give you an early opportunity to meet other new Year 7 students who are in the same House as you and to find out more about the School from staff.
The TGS Year 7 Induction Day takes place on Thursday 6 July. This is a really important day and provides an excellent opportunity for the students to experience some aspects of daily life at TGS. Further details can be found at the front of the enclosed School Information Booklet.
I have pleasure in inviting both parents/ carers and students to join us during the evening on Thursday 6 July 2017. You will have the opportunity to purchase uniform and other school supplies as well as joining me in the Mitchener Hall for a celebration event when every new student is formally welcomed as a member of Tonbridge Grammar School. Further information about the evening is provided in the School Information Booklet as mentioned above.
The Curriculum Director for Years 7–8, Mrs Ryde, as well as Mrs Court, Student Advisor, are already making the necessary preparations for you to join TGS. There is great deal of administration to do so please help us by ensuring you return your completed registration form if you have not already done so and/or any outstanding items of information requested on that form, for example your daughter’s birth certificate, emergency contact details etc. as soon as possible.
I would be grateful if you would confirm your attendance as soon as possible below.
To find out more about travelling to this event please visit: www.tgs.kent.sch.uk/travel-plan. There will be parking on site on a first come, first served basis and there will be a limited number of disabled spaces for registered disabled badge holders available to pre-book by calling the School Office. The School is located in a residential area and we ask for your special consideration for our resident neighbours by not parking your car in the streets closest to the School (Deakin Leas, Taylor Close, Baltic Road, The Drive and Hilltop) and by turning left as you exit the School if parking on site.
Thank you for your support and understanding in this matter.
