Teacher of PE

We are looking for an inspiring individual who will relish the opportunity teach PE to our highly motivated students. You should be a good Honours graduate, with a love of PE, able to teach post 16 to the highest academic level. PE is a popular academic option at GCSE and the School offers Sports Science as part of the IB Diploma.

There is a strong tradition of extra-curricular sports where the School enjoys much success regionally and nationally. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to further their career in an intellectually stimulating environment. We are keen to hear from applicants with the skill and experience to support both the academic and extra-curricular PE opportunities. Particular interest and skill in Netball is desirable.

Students in years 7–11 and in our co-ed sixth form become increasingly independent learners as they progress through the School and achieve excellent outcomes at GCSE and in the internationally recognised IB Diploma.  Experience of teaching the IB is not essential. Training will be offered as required.

Teacher of Biology (Fixed-term 1 year)

We are looking for an inspiring individual who will relish the opportunity to teach Biology to our highly motivated students. You should be a good Honours graduate, with a love of Biology and able to teach the subject to the highest academic level. You will also teach the separate three Sciences in Years 7-9. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to further their career in an intellectually stimulating environment. The ability to offer at least one Science other than Biology to GCSE is desirable.

The Sciences are studied by all students throughout the School including the Sixth Form as part of the IB Diploma.  Students in years 7–11 and in our co-ed sixth form become increasingly independent learners as they progress through the School and achieve excellent outcomes at GCSE and in the internationally recognised IB Diploma.  Experience of teaching the IB is not essential. You should be a good Honours graduate, with a love of international literature, able to teach post 16 to the highest academic level. Previous leadership experience is desirable. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to further their career in an intellectually stimulating environment with highly motivated students.

The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) runs the school experience programme, which offers prospective trainee teachers the chance to see what it’s like to be a teacher.

School Experience Programme

Tonbridge Grammar School is a leading institution for Initial Teacher Training offering a variety of ITE programmes from core PGCE to school-based employment programmes such as School Direct. We also support school-based work experience for potential new entrants to the profession through the School Experience Programme (SEP) where they are interested in applying for a school direct place with us.

For the academic year 2018-2019, the subjects we are offering school experience in are English, Maths, Geography, PE, Music, MFL (French and Spanish only), Chemistry and Physics.
