The Motet Choir of Tonbridge Grammar School returned triumphant from the 3rd European Choir Games in Latvia. The girls, aged 14-18 years sang music from Great Britain as well as gospel songs, motets, and songs from Spain, the USA and South Africa.
An intrepid group of Year 11s and 12s had a “cold, invigorating, informative and thoroughly enjoyable” weekend training for their Silver Duke of Edinburgh final expedition.
On May 17th all of Y9 travelled to Belgium to explore the WWI memorials and trenches, finishing with wreath laying at the Menin Gate.
In April and May five universities visited TGS to talk to Year 12 students about university choices and making competitive applications. It was wonderful to welcome back TGS Alumna Alexandra, who is now Admissions Officer at University of Manchester.
Y11 & 12 linguists enjoyed a visit from Christine Mathias, Senior Lecturer in Latin American History and Toby Green, Senior Lecturer and Admissions Tutor at King’s College London, who gave them an insight into studying Spanish and Portuguese at university.
In May TGS students visited Saint-Lô, Normandy. This was the second leg of the French Exchange, the first half of which happened in October of 2018.
