On Saturday our Under 19 Gymnastics Trio, Annabelle, Liv and Rebecca traveled up to Fenton Manor in Stoke to compete in the Gymnastics Milano Trio National Finals.
It was a long day of fierce competition, consisting of three disciplines of a group routine, individual routines from each gymnast and vaulting. All three gymnasts performed well, and the results were close. Tonbridge Grammar gymnasts just missed out on placing for a medal and finished fourth nationally, which is a fantastic result.
Our gymnasts competed in this national competition as part of a South East Team along with Tormead School and the team finished second, winning a silver medal in the Under 19 category. In addition, as part of an overall South East Team for all age groups, the region finished in first place overall. Huge congratulations go to the girls and once again to Mrs Cattoor for all her dedication and hard work.
A special mention must go to Annabelle and Liv in Year 13. This was their last competition representing the school. Both girls have competed for the Elite Gymnastics Squad for the last 7 years. Rebecca, who herself is in her fifth year of competing for the school said, “Everyone competed really well last weekend; I think it was the best we’d ever performed the trio routine. I’ll really miss doing gymnastics with Annabelle and Liv as well.”
This term has been a busy one, including fantastic performances by all of our gymnasts and dancers in our annual Gymnastics Display on Thursday 28th February. Well done to all who took part.
Good luck to Rebecca and our Under 13 Group who go to Stoke to compete at the National Gymnastics Acrobatics and Tumbling competition on the 4th of May.
