U12 Kent College Hockey Champions

U12 Hockey Tournament, Kent College Pembury – Saturday 24th March 2018

On Saturday morning, eight Tonbridge Grammar students were kitted up and ready to play in the annual Kent College Pembury U12 7-a-side Hockey Tournament. The U12 team had 3 teams to play against, Kent College Sky, Kent College Navy and Cranbrook.

The games were 12 minutes each way and in our first match against Kent College Sky, the girls had secured 3 goals by half time. Our U12 team continued to play an outstanding level of hockey, with the first match ending 7-0. Up next was Cranbrook, with the Tonbridge team continuing to battle on the pitch. They outwitted their opponents, scoring another 5 goals. Our defence worked hard to clear the ball, not allowing Cranbrook to get onto the scoresheet.

Our last fixture of the morning was against Kent College Navy. With having a team talk beforehand the girls were ready for the final game and wanted to come away with 3 out of 3 wins. Working brilliantly together as a team, they did not lose focus and they came away with a 12-0 win.

This meant that Tonbridge Grammar U12’s were the overall winners and were awarded with gold medals for their achievement. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the girls for their fabulous performance on and off the pitch. They should be very proud of themselves.

“The girls did very well in all the matches and kept going all the way through. I look forward to future matches and can’t wait for the astro-turf to be finished so that we can play and train more often as a team” Anna – U12 Captain

Thank you to Kent College for hosting the tournament, it was a lovely morning of sport for all players, coaches and supporters, with the rain holding off for the entire time.
