TGS at the British Schools Gymnastics Competition in Stoke

The Tonbridge Grammar School Elite Gymnastics squad ventured up to Stoke on the weekend of the 5-7 of May, to compete in British Schools gymnastics competition. It was a fantastic weekend with some super results from the elite squad. In the U19 floor and vault competition the TGS team came home with a silver medal, missing out by 0.3 points for the gold however even despite the result the girls excelled in the vault with the highest vault scores of the U19 age group.

Rebecca, Year 9, represented the school in the U14 tumbling competition coming away with a silver medal, again narrowly missing out on gold by 0.1. This is the first year the school has medalled in this section and Rebecca’s performance was nothing short of outstanding. The final success for TGS on the Sunday was when Annabelle, Year 11, and Lara, Year 7, became National Champions in the disability acro pair section. This was amazing to see as it’s the first time the South East have entered this section and for TGS to come away with the gold medal was fantastic.

It was a really good competition with some super results! It was also an emotional weekend for Emily because it was her final year here at Tonbridge Grammar School who has represented the school at National finals since year 7 and she has been a fantastic support to the squad throughout. It was great to see that this was recognised by the British Schools Gymnastics Association at the end of the competition and everyone applauded her in the arena for her commitment to school gymnastics as a performer, coach and judge.
