Gymnastics Acro and Tumbling Medalists
Tonbridge Grammar School Elite Gymnastics squad travelled to Kent College, Pembury last weekend for the South East Regional Acro and Tumbling competition, in which 17 TGS students competed across a variety of age groups. The gymnasts from Tonbridge Grammar competed exceptionally well in both acro and tumbling categories with performances that were judged as precise, dynamic and exciting to watch.
There were some closely fought competitions throughout the day; an exceptional performance within the Tumbling category by Rebecca ensured she was awarded a Silver medal and progressed through to the National Finals which will be held in Stoke in May 2018. Within the Acro Pairs competition, the U14 pair (Maddie and Milly) and the U19 pair (Emma and Mia) were awarded silver medals. The U19 disability pair continued to show an exceptional standard of performance winning a gold medal and progressing through to National Finals. There was also an outstanding performance from Izzy and Eleanor forming the last U19 pair who won a gold medal and also progress through to National Finals in 2018.
Within the Group Acro routines, the U14 group (Fleur, Maddie, Charlotte, Milly and Mia) performed amazingly well to be awarded gold and progress through to Nationals and the U19 group (Izzy, Flo, Adele, Rebecca, Anabelle and Olivia) were unlucky to only come away with a silver medal after demonstrating a fun, dynamic and well-executed routine that was a credit to their hard work and commitment over the past few months.
Assistant Headteacher Adrian Pitts said: "Well done to all students involved. Many thanks to parents for their support and a special thanks must go to Mrs Cattoor who continues to volunteer her time to coach the squad each week."
