Congratulations to our U14 and U16 Netball Squads competing in the County Netball Tournament last Saturday 25th November, at Rainham Netball Centre.
24 teams competing across 3 age brackets played netball against each other in the County Finals. Tonbridge Grammar School (TGS) participated in both the U16 and U14 competitions and whilst the U14 team did not come away with any medals this time, the U16 squad lifted the trophy for the 4th year in succession. A feat that no other school has achieved, at any age group, in recent history (if ever!) and hence is an achievement that the girls, staff and parents should be exceptionally proud of. Within the squad are 8 girls who, across their U14 and U16 competitions, have not lost a single match at the Kent County Schools Tournaments. What fantastic success!!
The match scores, in order of play, were as follows: TGS v Bennett Memorial 15-2, vs TWGGs 8-5, vs Sydenham 18-3, vs Hayes 11-11, vs Benenden 12-5, vs Highworth 17-0 and vs Sevenoaks 9-7.
The entire squad was terrific in their support of one another on and off court, and also huge thanks to the wonderful encouragement of our enthusiastic parents. It is a team effort and every element of the preparation, execution and cohesion of the squad works because of the wonderful team spirit exhibited by all.
The U14s gave their best all throughout the day and also exhibited a wonderful team spirit. It just wasn’t their day, as happens in all sport. Thank you again to all the parents and the girls for their commitment and strength of character on and off court.
TGS go on to represent Kent, along with the squad from TWGGs, at the LSE Regional finals, to be held at Rainham on Sunday 21st January 2018. Good luck to both teams!!
