Tonbridge Grammar make a Splash at Kent Schools Championships

On Saturday 14th January, 10 Tonbridge Grammar School students travelled to Hartsdown Pool in Margate for the Kent Schools Swimming Championships.

All the girls swam superbly, against some very tough competition, achieving personal best times and bringing home six medals across five events. Year 8 pupil Madeline put up a fantastic battle in the 100m breaststroke, bringing home the gold medal with only 0.01 of a second between her and the second place. Also in the same event, Megan (Year 8) was placed 6th with strong swims coming from from Emily (Year 9) and Kirsty-Anne (Year 10).

In the 100m backstroke Isabel (Year 8) pushed hard coming 3rd in her age group and Amelie (Year 9) placed 17th. Erin (Year 7) swam extremely well, placing 6th in the 100m freestyle and 8th in the 200m, while I (Year 11) was placed 5th in the 100m butterfly and 6th in the 100m freestyle. Other members of the TGS team included Freya (Year 7), Sara (Year 7) and Lottie (Year 8) who all swam very well.
