On Sunday 13th December Tonbridge Grammar School hosted the South East Regional Acrobatics and Tumbling Competition. The event was well attended by schools across the region and the standard in all age groups was very high. Gymnasts from Tonbridge Grammar School competed at both regional and national level with outstanding results!
Across all areas TGS came away with a collection of medals, and alongside the hard work of students, many thanks must go to the choreography of Charlie Cattoor, and coaching of Mrs Cattoor. At Regional Level the U14 pairs both received medals – Adele & Bethan achieved gold, Cerys & Emma won bronze.
The U14 pair Rebecca and Fleur, performed a good routine to achieve second place. Also achieving silver were the U19 pair Emily and Madeleine, performing a very near to perfect routine but unfortunately were beaten on the day by a very small margin.
In the U14 national girls’ tumbling competition Rebecca was awarded a silver medal, and will now represent the South East Region at National Finals in May.
The U14 Groups from TGS were also awarded gold medals. The group consisted of six gymnasts. The U14 group (Rebecca, Adele, Fleur, Jemma, Madeleine & Isabelle) performed consistently and achieved an excellent group score. The group will now travel to Stoke to compete at the National Finals with the hope that they can bring back medals for the South East Region.
