On 16th November, two teams of intrepid quizzers travelled to Sevenoaks School to take part in the regional round of the Schools Challenge Quiz.
The TGS B team – Jake (captain); Alex; Isabel; Immy and Callie– came up against stiff opposition in the group stage. Despite a valiant effort, they lost out to Westminster A and Bromley High B.
Our A team – Ella (captain); Alex; Jessica and Lydia fared better. They scored comfortable wins in the group round against St Bede’s B team and Bromley High A team to progress through to the semi-finals. There they faced the eventual winners, Westminster B, who were just that bit quicker on the buzzer. It was a creditable performance in a very high-scoring bout.
The teams are grateful to Mr Waters and Mr Sullivan for their encouragement and enthusiasm.
Here are a few of the questions we were asked - how would you have got on?
- Which composer’s name is a homophone of something used to open a door?
- Which island was home to the Minoan civilisation?
- What’s the surname of Joey from Friends?
(Answers: Handel; Crete; Tribbiani)
