The annual House Music competition final was held on Wednesday evening with former student and Leeds music graduate Rachel Balcombe as adjudicator.
Each House presented a 20 minute programme selected from 2 packed days of heats last week. Performances on the night ranged from an Ed Sheeran Medley to Liszt’s Liebestraume No.3. Students from Year 7 to the 6th form participated in a keenly contested evening of music.
Arnold House Music Captains Elizabeth Blyth and Isabelle Ormsby were delighted that their House programme was judged to be the winning House. Performances of Elton John, Dvorak, Randy Newman, Train and Debussy from Arnold students were given the most highly commended and outstanding awards on the night.
Best performances of the evening also came from Arnold House from Niamh McConachie-Smith with a vocal rendition of Drops of Jupiter and Alice Good and Isabella Stephens’s piano duet En Bateau from Petite Suite by Debussy.
Miss Balcombe commended the performances of the students, and enjoyed her return to her school.
