Tuesday 11th March saw the 2014 Year 9 Showcase. This event is unique in the school calendar in that the whole year group takes part: everyone contributes in three Performing Arts activities: Dance, Drama and Music.
All five forms Arnold, Carey, Fayerman, Mitchener and Taylor were given the task of choreographing and dancing to a song chosen by the group with a magical connection or theme. This year the groups have risen to this challenge spectacularly!
Each split group worked to a brief to produce a scripted scene from The Wizard of Oz by L Frank Baum. This was a real collaborative task, with each student choosing a role that suited them as a performer, director or as a member of the support and technical team.
Each half of the Showcase concluded with a musical item. The first half featured instrumentalists in a performance of Themes from Harry Potter which students have worked on as part of the Music and Magic Days in the Autumn term. The Showcase ended with the rousing chorus from Wicked the Musical, One Short Day performed by the whole year group.
