TGS are National Gymnastic Champions!

After 12 years of competing in school gymnastic competitions Tonbridge Grammar have finally won National Finals!

The Under 16 Squad – Emily Cynk, Maddy Wells, Izzy Kerslake & Jasmine Wynter travelled to Stoke at the weekend to compete in the Milano Team National Finals. They were lying in second position after the individual floor and vault rotation, and after a fantastic team trio routine came home with the gold medal! The team fought off extremely strong opposition from 24 schools participating in order to achieve this amazing result. All four gymnasts achieved exceptional scores, with Jasmine Wynter gaining the highest vault score of the day!

Tonbridge Grammar and Tormead School were both representing the South East Region, and with their scores combined they came away with the gold medal for the highest scoring region at the competition. This is the first time that the South East Region has achieved this amazing accolade!

Tonbridge Grammar has had an amazing season so far and will also represent the South East Region at National Finals in the British Schools U14 Floor and Vault competition on Sunday 11th May. Gymnasts competing include – Leah McCarthy, Kitty Wells, Jasmine Wynter, Izzy Kerslake, Georgia Menhinick, and Eleanor Barrett.

Mrs Cattoor, Elite Gymnastics Coach was overwhelmed with the success achieved by the gymnasts at TGS so far this year. The girls have trained very hard and have finally achieved a gold medal at National Finals which is amazing, and hopes that the success of the squad will continue.

Next weekend Tonbridge Grammar School will host the Regional Acrobatic and Tumbling Competition where TGS hopes to qualify for National Finals and are entering routines in U14 Group, U19 Group, U14 Pairs and U19 Pairs, with National Finals taking place on Saturday 10th May.
