TGS choirs to sing at St Paul's Cathedral at a special charity Christmas Carol Service.

The combined Choirs of Tonbridge Grammar School will go to the magnificent St Paul's Cathedral on Tuesday 9th December for the annual Carol Service in aid of Barnardo's.

At the service, over 100 voices from the School’s senior TGS Motet Choir and junior Cantores choir will combine to sing three Carols under the dome. Readings by celebrities together with special guests make it a sell-out London event

The senior TGS Motet Choir was founded in 1992 by its director Adrian Pitts (Assistant Head Teacher) with the vision of introducing his students to some of the world’s finest choral music and to take part in choral competitions. The choir has 50 members, and over the years have been a finalist in major national competitions run by BBC and Barnardo's. They are planning an overseas tour of Germany in the Summer of 2015 to take part in the finals of the European Choir Games in Magdeburg with choirs from all over the world. They are looking for sponsors of this talented and dedicated group.

Adrian Pitts, the choir’s director, said...

I am thrilled to be bringing two of our choirs to perform again in St Paul’s, and the students are so grateful to Barnardo's and the Cathedral for their encouragement. We have been lucky enough to be asked to sing at this lovely service for the third year running - it really sets up our Christmas nicely.

The service on Tuesday 9th December at 7.00pm.

Other music includes congregational carols with the mighty Cathedral Organ, and performances from a massed Primary School Choir and Adult ladies’ choir.
