Tonbridge Grammar School is delighted to welcome Alan Mak as its guest speaker next Monday 15 July 2013, in association with education charity Speakers for Schools.
Alan Mak is an award-winning business and community leader, and an internationally renowned speaker. Alan's will be speaking to the Sixth Form, and in his talk entitled "From Classroom to Boardroom", Alan will tell the story of his leadership journey from his parent's corner shop in Yorkshire and his state school classroom to the City of London, the corporate boardroom, and the world of international business and finance.
Alan will also give first-hand advice to our students about how to succeed in their school and university life, build successful careers, and achieve their ambitions, whilst also positively contributing to their communities, charities and good causes.
Described by Management Today as a "high flier" and by the Association of Graduate Recruiters as "inspirational", Alan is a businessman, private investor and a qualified solicitor who started his career as a City lawyer with a major international law firm. He is also a non-executive director of Havas UK Group, one of the world's leading advertising, communications and digital services group listed in Paris. Education, young people and social mobility are one of Alan's major passions: he is a primary school governor; President & Trustee of Magic Breakfast, the UK's leading school breakfast club charity; a member of Cambridge University's Alumni Advisory Board; and Chairman of the Royal British Legion's Young Professionals' Network.
