Tonbridge Grammar School Motet Choir are excitedly looking forward to their gala performance at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Barnardo’s Young Supporters’ Concert this Saturday 29th June 2013 at 6.30pm. They are performing as a guest artist after they won the National Choir Competition back in March 2013. The Choir were also runners up in the Songs of Praise School Choir competition earlier in the year.
"It’s very exciting for the Choir to be performing in front of 4000 people – we hear it’s a sell-out concert’"choir director Adrian Pitts said, after he was invited by Barnardo’s to perform at their annual fundraiser in London. The 45-strong girls’ choir has developed an association with the charity, performing for them in Westminster Cathedral last Christmas, and appearing in all five national finals since the National Choir Competition was started in 2009.
They are performing two contrasting pieces, the haunting ‘Just as I am’ by John Maunder and the rousing ‘Hosanna’ by Kirk Franklin.
