The Motet Choir of Tonbridge Grammar School is appearing on Sunday 14th April on BBC Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year, from Liverpool recorded in March. The choir won through to the national semi-finals to compete against five other senior choirs from across the UK. The competition is judged by Suzi Digby, TV personality David Grant and for the first time by musician, model and presenter Myleene Klass. The programme is compered by Daybreak TV host Aled Jones.
The choir will be singing a traditional hymn ‘Just as I am’. The Choir celebrated its 20th anniversary at the school last month, under director Adrian Pitts, having got to the finals of the competition in 2007 and this year they have performed at Llangollen in Wales, Westminster Cathedral and are due to feature as guests at the Royal Albert Hall in June.
