Religious Studies is taught throughout your academic life in mixed ability classes.
You are encouraged to think philosophically and critically about concepts of religious belief and how they influence peopleís lives.
In Year 7 we start with a transition unit from primary school on Sikhism. This is then followed by the origins of Christianity; the life of Jesus and the effect that this has on the lives of Christians. We begin to explore the practices of Christianity by visiting Rochester Cathedral and the practices of Sikhism by visiting Rochester Gurdwara; this trip is with the History department.
In Year 8 we review the basic beliefs of Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism with some further reflection on Christianity. We take you to the Hindu Mandir; this trip is with the Art department.
We begin preparation for the GCSE course in Year 9 by exploring ethical issues.
