Play Your Part is the capital fundraising campaign that will help to raise the £3.5 million needed for the developments at Tonbridge Grammar School by August 2015. The money will be spent on the New Sixth Form Study Centre, the enlargement and refurbishment of Music, improvements to Art, an all-weather, multi-purpose sports pitch, more parking and a lift in the original school building. It will also increase the amount of dining space for all. In this list, which has come from consultation with parents, students and staff, there is something for every single student at the School. Importantly, these enhancements will also benefit all students who choose TGS over the next 50 years or so.
Just as everyone will benefit, so we are asking everyone in the TGS community to become involved to help reach the goal. Play Your Part is an invitation for the school’s students, staff, governors, parents, alumni and friends to make a difference; to contribute in whichever way is most appropriate for them.
Many people have already donated directly to the campaign and set us on our way. Our Scale of Giving shows how many gifts we need of each value to meet the target. Whether you’re able to give £100, £1,000 or £100,000, every penny and pound will count, and every gift will be hugely appreciated. Making a donation with Gift Aid can increase your gift to the School considerably, eg. a £5,000 donation actually costs a standard rate tax payer £4,000 and a highest rate tax payer, £2,750.
If you have time to give, you may like to be involved in helping to organise one of the Play Your Part events, perhaps to create and run one yourself, or to set yourself a sponsored personal challenge. We can help with this and would be delighted to discuss and support your plans. It may be that you have a specific skill that you can see would help Play Your Part. Do please get in touch! Among the contributions so far, a media savvy parent has designed and is helping write the newsletter, a professional photographer has run a pop-up studio with all proceeds going to Play Your Part, and an energetic Dad has run a half marathon—all to help raise money and hit the target.
Thank you for anything and everything you decide to do to help—your personal contribution will make a difference. Do please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to tell us how you would like to Play Your Part.
Many thanks and best wishes
