Preparation for Oxbridge and Medical School interviews underway

It’s been a busy and purposeful few weeks for Year 13 students who are preparing for forthcoming Oxbridge and Medical School interviews and entrance exams.

TGS runs a number of destination-specific support programmes to help guide students to their post Sixth Form destinations, including an Oxbridge Support programme and Medsoc that supports aspiring medics, dentists and vets.

Oxbridge support sessions have focused on preparation for forthcoming entrance exams and accessing the TGS ‘Oxbridge Portal’ which guides students through every stage of their application journey. A panel of 25 former students and TGS parents are giving all candidates a practice interview, overlaying the support and practice they receive from teaching staff.

Medsoc weekly support sessions have been focused on technique for MMIs (mini medical interviews).  9 former students who have gone on to study and work in the field have generously donated their time to run a series of mock interviews for students.  Students are also looking forward to visits from 2 surgeons and a local GP in the next few weeks.

Former students say it’s a pleasure to give back to TGS as a thank you for the help that they received.  Current students have expressed their appreciation for the help they get from their alumni peers.
