Orla takes Cyclocross to the next level

Orla (Year 8) has been cycling competitively since she was 7 years old, in both road races and Cyclocross competitions in the UK and abroad.  Her many successes to date include winning the U8 National Road Support Race and multiple wins during her second year in the U10 category.

She has enjoyed getting back into racing this summer, after disruption due to the pandemic, and has had some strong races finishing in the top 3.  She also raced the prestigious Northwest Youth Tour and gained a credible 7th after the 3 stages.

Since September she has taken the huge leap into the U14 category in Cyclocross which sees events increase from 15 minutes duration on a youth course to 30-minute races on the adult course.  She has already had great success in Regional events and the move into this category also enables her to compete at a National level.

Our congratulations to Orla who has had some fantastic results in her first National events.  In her first event at Derby she came 11th (4th out of those in their 1st year at U14 level). The Series then moved on to Milnethorpe near Lancaster where Orla had an amazing race and improved her position to 8th (3rd out of the 1st year U14s).

We look forward to hearing more of Orla’s cycling news!
